Keith Buxton, my dad, was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer in late 2017. As his oldest son this was devastating news.
Keith is a loving, caring man and even in this emotional time he was still thinking about his kids. As I was out on a mine site working he told Dave, Lisa and Mick who run Clancy head office in Queensland his horrible news. He wanted to make sure I was with my family when I found out and knew that they would make sure this happened.
When I got home to my family I was told the awful news. Within 3 weeks I was packed up and, with my family, was travelling back from Queensland to Port Macquarie to spend whatever time remained with my dad.
Dave, Lisa and Mick gave me the amazing opportunity to start a Clancy Corporation branch in Port Macquarie to help support my move back home. 18 months on and Keith has had multiple Radiation and Chemotherapy treatments as he is determined not to let the cancer win.
Cancer has touched so many lives and has personally turned my family life upside down. The Tour De Rocks is an amazing fundraising opportunity. It is my way of giving to organisations dedicated to fighting cancer through research and supporting cancer clinics. My dad would not be here today without the valuable research done by these organisations.
My Family (including my Dad) will be my support crew for this epic ride of 260kms over 3 days from Armidale to South West Rocks.
I am hoping to make a difference for cancer awareness, prevention and cure but I need your help. Please click on the 'Donate' link above and give generously. Every penny goes to charity.
